The Goddard School of Columbia, MD is seeking an energetic Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging lessons and a safe classroom. You will help with daily activities, supervise children and foster positive interactions in a nurturing setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• At least one year of experience in a PS or PK classroom.
• 90 Hour PS Certification required.
• Associate or bachelor's in early childhood education preferred.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Works productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children.
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
