Job summary

Penquis is seeking a full-time preschool Assistant Teacher for the Rockland Child Development Center to join the Early Head Start/Head Start team. You will assist with daily operation and develop an appropriate activity program to meet the needs of the group and individuals.

Responsibilities include creating a developmentally appropriate daily program, ensuring safety, maintaining a clean environment, observing children, and coordinating with services as needed.

Qualifications

• Preschool CDA or associate degree in early childhood education or completion of one of these credentials within 1 year of hire.
• 1-2 years’ paid experience working with children.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Characteristics demonstrate flexibility and empathy.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Work directly with children aged birth to 5 years old, managing noises and behaviors.
• Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined incurrent contract provisions.

This is Full-time (38 hrs. per week, 52 weeks ) Rockland Child Development Center.

Have a passion for working with children? Join our Early Head Start/Head Start team, providing early childhood education services. Penquis, a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is currently seeking a full-time preschool Assistant Teacher. As the Assistant Teacher, you assist with the daily operation of the early education classroom and activities. Develop and administer an appropriate daily activity program to assure that the needs of the group and the individual children are met.This is Full-time (38 hrs. per week, 52 weeks ) Rockland Child Development Center.

Additional Compensation

Penquis Child Development pays for newly hired staff to obtain appropriate credentials or pursue continued educational opportunities in accordance with Head Start standards.

New employees in Early Childhood programs who work 24 to 40 hours per week are eligible upon hire for a monthly stipend based on their lattice through MRTQ (Maine Roads to Quality).
