Job summary

St. Joseph's/Candler's The Children’s House is seeking a dedicated early childhood caregiver to support infants through pre-kindergarten. The role focuses on developmentally appropriate practices, safety, and collaborative teamwork within a nurturing setting.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of related experience; CDA is preferred and CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and active supervision of children at all times in a safe environment.
  • Assist lead teacher with daily routines, meals, activities, and transitions.
  • Support implementation of daily lesson plans promoting physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate child records, attendance, and incident reports.
  • Communicate with families through informal conversations and updates; participate in parent conferences.
  • Follow licensing regulations, center policies, and quality standards; collaborate with staff and directors.

Position Summary

The Children’s House is a 3-Star Quality Rated child care facility associated with St. Joseph’s/Candler. The Children’s House offers programs ranging from infant care to Pre-Kindergarten. Our mission is to promote the healthy growth and development of children and to strengthen and support the families and community.

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED; and 3 or more years of early care and education experience with young children
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) - Preferred
  • Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; Technical College Diploma (TCD) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; or Associate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field - Preferred
Experience
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, or pre-school-aged children - Required
  • 1 Year of experience following health, safety, and licensing guidelines - Required
  • 1 Year of experience demonstrating communication skills - Required
License & Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification - Required within 45 days from date of hire
Core Job Functions
  • Provide direct care and active supervision of children at all times while maintaining a safe, healthy environment. Ensure proper response to injuries, emergencies, administering medication as required, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state licensing regulations.
  • Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom routines, including transitions, meals, activities and supervision. Help maintain an organized and orderly learning environment.
  • Support implementation of daily lesson plans and activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Encourage child participation and independence.
  • Maintain accurate child records, daily reports, attendance, and required documentation including incident reports and medication logs when applicable.
  • Provide daily communication to families through informal conversations and written updates. Participate in parent conferences as needed.
  • Follow all licensing regulations, Quality-Rated standards, and center policies regarding health, safety, supervision, and sanitation.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and directors. Attend required meetings, scheduled professional development and trainings while maintaining professional conduct at all times.
