Job summary

The Learning Experience is seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to support classroom leadership and curriculum delivery for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a caring, safe setting.

You will collaborate with teachers to implement the proprietary LEAP Curriculum, ensuring developmentally appropriate activities and strong family communication while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ECE coursework preferred but not mandatory.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in childcare or genuine passion for early childhood education preferred.
• Meet state guidelines including immunizations and health/safety training.

Responsibilities

• Classroom Leadership: partner with teachers to create a stimulating, welcoming space for infants to preschoolers.
• Curriculum Support: assist in implementing the L.E.A.P. Curriculum and adapt to child needs.
• Safety First: maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children to thrive.
• Family Communication: update parents on progress via apps and in-person meetings.
• Center Collaboration: work with staff to support retention, enrollment, and engagement goals.
• Relationship Building: foster warm relationships with families and colleagues.

Role Responsibilities

• Classroom Leadership: Partner closely with teachers to orchestrate a stimulating, welcoming space where children can play, learn, and grow.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: High School Diploma/GED required. ECE coursework preferred.
• Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age.
• Experience: Prior experience in childcare or a demonstrable passion for early childhood education is preferred.
• State Compliance: Must meet state-specific guidelines for the role.
• Meet state and federal requirements including immunizations, employment physicals, and required health and safety training.

Caregiving Skills

• Proven judgment to identify and address potential risks in a childcare setting.
• Ensure that children are safe and that their everyday needs are met — this may include diapering, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
• Model and encourage good social skills, such as strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Keep children active, entertained, and engaged in developmentally appropriate activities.
• Exhibit high levels of composure, patience, and professionalism at all times.

Physical Resilience

• Demonstrates full range of motion to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time without significant discomfort.
  • Safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Reach, stretch with hands and arms.
  • Climb or balance.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Use a stool or ladder to reach high places as necessary.
  • Ability to supervise by sight and sound.
  • Most days, employee will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 20°F with wind chill to 95°F.
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job functions.
