Job summary

The Learning Experience in Mesa, AZ is seeking an Assistant Teacher to create a happy, engaging environment for infants to preschoolers. You will support teachers, help implement the L.E.A.P. Curriculum®, and ensure safety and development during daily activities.

Responsibilities include communicating with families about progress, collaborating with center staff, and building positive relationships with children and colleagues to promote retention and enrollment growth.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; ECE coursework preferred.
  • At least 18 years old; state compliance required.
  • Must meet immunizations and health/safety training requirements.
  • Experience in childcare preferred.

  • Classroom leadership and supporting teachers in a stimulating, welcoming space.
  • Assist with curriculum implementation of the proprietary L.E.A.P. Curriculum®, adapting to infants, toddlers, or preschoolers.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing environment where children thrive.
  • Communicate with families about progress and milestones via apps and in-person discussions.
  • Collaborate with center staff to drive retention, enrollment and engagement goals.
  • Build warm relationships with families and colleagues to foster learning through play.

Role Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: High School Diploma/GED required. ECE coursework preferred.
  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age.
  • Experience: Prior experience in childcare or a demonstrable passion for early childhood education is preferred.
  • State Compliance: Must meet state-specific guidelines for the role.
  • Meet state and federal requirements including immunizations, employment physicals, and required health and safety training.
Caregiving Skills:
  • Proven judgment to identify and address potential risks in a childcare setting.
  • Ensure that children are safe and that their everyday needs are met — this may include diapering, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Model and encourage good social skills, such as strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Keep children active, entertained, and engaged in developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Exhibit high levels of composure, patience, and professionalism at all times.
Physical Resilience:
  • Demonstrates full range of motion to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time without significant discomfort.
  • Safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Reach, stretch with hands and arms.
  • Climb or balance.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Use a stool or ladder to reach high places as necessary.
  • Ability to supervise by sight and sound.
  • Most days, employee will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 20°F with wind chill to 95°F.
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job functions.
