Job summary

The Goddard School in Chester Springs, PA is seeking a motivated Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers in lesson planning and daily classroom activities. You’ll help create a safe, stimulating learning environment and foster a love of learning.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (associate or bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred), show empathy, and can lift up to 50 lbs. We offer a collaborative team, ongoing professional development, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in licensed childcare or preschool
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in connection with handling children
• Must pass state background checks and meet state education/experience requirements

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment
