Job summary

Salem City Schools is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Position open until filled.

The role involves developing a high-quality athletics program, teaching and supervising student athletes, and collaborating with the Athletic Director and school staff to ensure safety, sportsmanship, and positive interscholastic experiences.

Responsibilities

• Selects, teaches, trains, and supervises student athletes for team membership and participation.
• Communicates openly with students, parents, community patrons, staff, and administration as a positive representative.
• Teaches proper sports techniques, rules, strategies and play tactics.
• Designs and implements a conditioning program for endurance, strength and agility.
• Creates and maintains a practice schedule within the school day and athletic calendar.
• Conducts and supervises practice, contests and travel events with emphasis on student safety.
• Maintains supervision systems for facilities and transports and monitors their implementation.
• Develops standards of conduct, scholarship and leadership for student athletes.
• Monitors attendance, grades, and conduct; addresses performance concerns as needed.
• Develops and maintains a budget for team needs and resources.
• Attends clinics and professional organizational events; performs other duties as assigned.
