Walbridge is seeking a Construction Assistant Superintendent to lead large-scale construction projects, including data center work. The role involves supervising craft teams, coordinating schedules, managing budgets, and ensuring safety and quality across disciplines.

Travel is prominent (approximately 70% or more), with opportunities to impact project outcomes from feasibility to completion. A strong supervisory background in facility construction is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years supervisory experience on facility construction projects.
• Experience on commercial/industrial projects with budgets of at least $15 million.
• Experience in MEP, concrete, steel, underground utilities, fire alarm, finishes and enclosure systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise large-scale construction activities from feasibility to completion.
• Coordinate crafts, supervise trades, and maintain safety; manage unions as needed.
• Monitor progress with metrics and adjust plans to meet schedules and budgets.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and address concerns.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Assistant Superintendent to help lead and manage large‑scale construction projects. This includes overseeing the entire project lifecycle from feasibility to completion, developing project strategies, plans and budgets, and assembling qualified project teams. The role also involves scheduling, coordinating and supervising craft employee activities, which may include supervising various trade groups (electricians, boilermakers, carpenters) in different construction disciplines such as civil, structural and electrical.

Location

You can be located anywhere in the United States, if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long‑term basis.

Responsibilities

• Project Planning and Strategy: Plan and supervise construction activities, determining methods, manpower, materials, equipment and schedules. Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Team Leadership: Coordinate work with different crafts, departments or contractors. Resolve construction problems and maintain communication with unions.
• Resource Management: Monitor compliance with safety programs and document corrective measures. Ensure materials, equipment and inspections support project schedules.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clients and vendors, to ensure alignment and address any concerns.
• Performance Monitoring: Track project progress through metrics and reporting, adjusting plans as necessary to meet changing requirements or challenges.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all deliverables meet the required quality standards and compliance regulations.
• Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seek ways to optimize processes and improve project outcomes through innovative technologies or methodologies.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent, and five (5) or more years of supervisory experience in similar facility construction technology, commercial or industrial projects.
• Must have experience working on commercial or industrial projects with budgets of at least $15 million.
• Experience in MEP, concrete, steel, underground utilities, fire alarm, building finishes and enclosure systems.
• A valid driver’s license in the United States and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70 % or more.

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
• Experience supervising, motivating and mentoring cross‑functional teams.
• Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality outcomes.
