Job summary

Ironmark Building Co. seeks an Assistant Superintendent to join our Tucson-area project operations. You will assist the on-site management of commercial construction, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and effective coordination with subs and vendors.

You should have a construction management background, be comfortable reading blueprints, and communicate well with diverse teams. On-site work, OSHA knowledge, and a valid driver’s license are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management preferred
• On-site work at Tucson project location
• Knowledge of codes, OSHA; OSHA 30 preferred
• Ability to read blueprints
• Strong communication across diverse teams
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and mobile devices
• Independent work with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage priorities under pressure
• Valid driver's license and vehicle access

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day management of commercial construction project operations, people, and processes
• Apply cost containment, quality control, and risk management to ensure timely completion
• Create a safe work environment per OSHA and Ironmark Safety Program
• Ensure adherence to schedule; expedite subcontractors and suppliers as needed
• Supervise on-site construction activities with the project Superintendent
• Develop schedules and coordinate trades
• Maintain daily work documentation and submit timely paperwork
• Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and vendors

What you’ll do:

• Assist in the day-to-day management of overall commercial construction project operations, people, and processes
• Apply vigilant cost containment, quality control, and risk management skills to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of assigned projects
• Create a safe work environment by ensuring full compliance with all applicable safety regulations, including OSHA regulations and Ironmark's Safety Program
• Ensure adherence to the schedule, expediting subcontractors and suppliers as required
• Supervise on-site construction activities in conjunction with the project Superintendent
• Develop schedules and coordinate trades
• Complete and oversee maintenance of all daily work documentation and other paperwork required, submitting all as required on a timely basis
• Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management preferred
• Ability to work on-site at our project location in the Tucson area
• Ability to understand local building codes/regulations to ensure compliance. Knowledge of federal, state and local safety laws and regulations. OSHA 30 certified (preferred)
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Strong communication skills with a demonstrated background of working effectively with a wide range of workers in a diverse community
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications as well as use of Smart Phones and Tablets including taking and sending photographs, voice memos, accessing cloud-based document storage, communicating via email, adding and managing attachments
• Passionate about managing commercial construction projects and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Effective at focusing under pressure, smoothly managing tasks, change, and priorities
• Bring solutions, not just problems - proactive interaction with architect/engineer/PM; "We" have a problem, let's solve it together
• Possess a sharp, continuous improvement mind and inner drive to succeed
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record along with reliable access to a vehicle
