Job description

This is a unique opportunity to support cutting-edge, large-scale data center projects as our organization expands into a Prime Contractor role. You will help define how we deliver mission-critical projects at scale—combining MEP expertise with full-scope GC leadership—while working on some of the most complex and high-impact builds in the industry.

The Assistant Superintendent is an experienced field leader responsible for the safe, coordinated, high-quality and timely execution of an assigned project area, work package or smaller project. This role leads day-to-day planning and subcontractor coordination, drives short-interval schedule performance and partners with the Superintendent and Construction Manager to deliver work in alignment with project requirements, milestones and client commitments.

We are currently seeking candidates for this role in Salt Lake City, UT and Columbus, OH.

  • Lead daily field operations for an assigned area, work package or smaller project, including logistics, staffing and manpower planning, deliveries, inspections, access, productivity and work sequencing.
  • Own short-interval planning and look-ahead execution for assigned work, including sequencing, constraints, handoffs, milestone alignment and recovery actions.
  • Lead subcontractor coordination and field-planning discussions; ensure trade partners understand safety, quality, schedule, productivity, staffing, delivery and sequencing expectations.
  • Drive jobsite safety within the assigned scope by setting expectations, correcting unsafe behaviors and partnering with safety professionals and trade partners on incident-prevention activities.
  • Ensure quality standards and acceptance criteria are understood; coordinate inspections and first-work-in-place reviews, document deficiencies and drive timely corrective action and rework prevention.
  • Review contract and coordination documents, identify field conflicts, constructability issues, scope gaps, procurement risks and potential schedule impacts and lead routine issue resolution.
  • Partner with the Superintendent and Construction Manager on field status, schedule updates, change conditions, cost impacts, procurement needs, owner communication and project risk mitigation.
  • Maintain complete field records and coordinate or support commissioning, testing, turnover, punch list, owner training, closeout documentation and final completion for assigned scopes.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; construction management, engineering or related coursework is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction experience with increasing field leadership responsibility, preferably with a general contractor, prime integrator or complex trade contractor.
  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Industrial construction and modular construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading work on data center, manufacturing, mission critical or other technically complex projects preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction methods, site logistics, scheduling, safety, quality, contract documents and field coordination.
  • Ability to lead subcontractors, vendors and multiple trades and translate project plans into clear daily and weekly expectations.
  • Experience with look-ahead planning, pull planning, RFIs, submittals, change events, inspections, commissioning and punch list management.
  • Ability to identify and resolve routine field and constructability issues and make sound decisions within assigned authority.
  • Strong field leadership, communication, organization, accountability and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management, scheduling, daily reporting, model coordination or field technology platforms.
