Job summary

Battleground Country Club in Manalapan, New Jersey is seeking a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This career-oriented role works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to plan and execute daily maintenance and grow as a leader.

You will supervise staff, monitor turf health, assist with irrigation and chemical applications, and contribute to ongoing improvements as the club invests in capital projects.

Qualifications

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred.
• New Jersey Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain it in a reasonable timeframe.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and modern turf management practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and supervising daily golf course maintenance operations.
• Lead, train, and motivate full-time and seasonal staff.
• Monitor turf health and assist with disease, insect, and moisture management.
• Perform and supervise fertilizer and pesticide applications.
• Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Help prepare the golf course for daily member play and tournaments.
• Maintain accurate pesticide, fertilizer, and maintenance records.
• Assist with construction, renovation, and improvement projects.

Battleground Country Club is seeking a motivated, career-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop under a progressive maintenance program while helping elevate one of Central New Jersey's premier private golf clubs.

The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in planning and executing all aspects of golf course maintenance while helping lead a dedicated staff committed to providing exceptional playing conditions.

About Battleground Country Club:

Battleground Country Club is an 18-hole private facility located in Manalapan, New Jersey. Originally designed by Hal Purdy and later refined by Robert McNeil, our historic course is known for its pristine conditions and \"golfing oasis\" atmosphere in the heart of Monmouth County. The club is currently investing in the golf course through ongoing capital improvements, including:

• New putting green: Fall 2026.


• Cart path improvements: Fall/Winter 2026.


• Driving Range Tee Renovation: Spring 2027.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved in meaningful projects while gaining experience in every aspect of golf course management.

• Knowledge of irrigation systems and modern turf management practices.


• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.


• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.


• Valid driver's license.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $65,000–$75,000.
