Qualifications

  • Previous club experience preferred.

Job Location: Boca Raton, FL 33496, Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists with planning, scheduling, instructing, training, and directing crew in the performance of golf course maintenance procedures and job responsibilities.
  • Performs checks of processes throughout the day.
  • Oversees chemical and fertilizer applications and assists as necessary.
  • Advises Superintendent of course conditions.
  • Oversees cleanup and storage of tools and equipment at the end of the shift.
  • Advises the Superintendent of all performance issues and enforces of performance standards.
  • Assumes additional management responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The PoloClub.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.

  • Must be able to supervise work effectively.

  • Must be able to work in the heat for extended periods of time.

  • Previous club experience required.
  • Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages line employees in the Golf Course Maintenance department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A.S.) in Agronomy or Horticulture plus four to ten years related experience and/or equivalent combination for related education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate well in English.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, common inquiries and complaints from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn to operate the Irrigation System software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Florida driver’s license and a good driving record.
