Clark Construction Group seeks an Assistant Superintendent to coordinate field operations on a live project. You will supervise subcontractors and in-house teams, align activities with the project schedule, and enforce safety and quality standards across assigned trades.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in a relevant field and 3+ years in field supervision, with strong knowledge of scheduling processes, contract administration, and safety compliance on active construction sites.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of construction management experience in a field supervisory role.
  • Experience directing subcontractors and ensuring safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate installation of work in accordance with contract documents, project schedule and planned sequence.
  • Be aware of milestone dates and requirements to achieve them.
  • Develop understanding of duration of each activity and plan accordingly.
  • Know material and equipment delivery dates that affect assigned areas/trades.
  • Supervise field workforce to ensure cost-effective put-in-place of work.
  • Maintain awareness of budgets for supervised work and investigate variances.

Job description

The Assistant Superintendent coordinates field operations for specific areas and/or specific self-performed and subcontracted trades on a project. Assistant Superintendents ensure that construction work is completed according to a project’s planned sequence and schedule, and implement and enforce pertinent safety and quality control procedures.ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate installation of work in accordance with the contract documents, project schedule and the planned sequence of workBe aware of project milestone dates and the requirements to achieve themHave thorough knowledge of the Contract Documents and the scope of work for the specific area(s) or trade(s) assignedDevelop an understanding of the duration of each activityApply knowledge of equipment capability and develop plans for optimum utilizationKnow the scheduled delivery dates for all material and equipment that have a direct effect on the area(s)/trade(s) assignedSupervise field work force to assure that all work is put in place in the most cost effective mannerKnow the budgets for work that is being supervised.Determine causes and develop remedies when costs are not in line with budget, estimate, and/or reasonable expectationsImplement the safety program. Conduct regular, scheduled and unscheduled, safety inspections to assure all working conditions and work habits are in compliance with company and government standardsTake remedial action when requiredEstablish a procedure for hazard recognition at the beginning of every new activityBe thoroughly knowledgeable of all of the company's safety standards, manuals, and proceduresMaintain good working relationships with subcontractors and suppliersQualificationsUndergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline3+ years of construction management experience in a field supervisory roleDemonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors and suppliersWorking knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc.Well versed in safety and government regulations (e.g., OSHA) with success in implementation on a job siteAlignment to Clark Standards of Excellence: Self-Motivated, Results Oriented, Adaptable, Team Player, Accountable, Ethical, Innovative, Resilient, Builds RelationshipsPreferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of construction management software platforms and tools including Procore, PlanGrid, FieldWire, Bluebeam, and P6The work environment and requirements described below are representative of those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You’ll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.Your Work Environment: You’ll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels.
