Job summary

The Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. Under the Store Manager’s direction, you supervise employees, manage merchandise presentation, complete paperwork, and help with deposits.

You’ll perform stocking and cashiering duties, work to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction, enforce company policies, and support the Store Manager in their absence while ensuring asset protection.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment and supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and interpret store policies and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and handle cash accurately.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to operate a cash register and scanner.
• Willingness to drive store performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers; operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases.
• Open and close the store at least two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise; stocking, unpacking, and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory; control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Implement and maintain planograms; ensure proper presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability and deposits.
• Assist in store management in the Store Manager’s absence.
