Job summary

Family Dollar in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and assist in payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; ability to read and follow directives.
• Retail management experience in grocery, drug, or convenience store preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor as needed and ensure seasonal areas are maintained.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll/scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines and ensure staff compliance.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Ensure store cleanliness, restocking bathrooms, sweeping/mopping floors, taking out trash, and presentable areas.
