Job summary

Family Dollar in Van Horn, TX is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development in a part‑time role. You will assist with day‑to‑day activities, help customers, organize merchandise, and support in payroll, scheduling and loss prevention while maintaining store standards and safety.

The position requires strong communication, excellent customer service, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and explain directives.
• Retail store management experience in grocery, drug store, or equivalent preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, and bending.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns they may have.
• Organize and move merchandise from delivery to stockroom and floor; maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and maintain displays and promotions.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and secure assets.
• Support Store Manager in training and developing Store Associates.
• Ensure a safe, respectful environment for customers and staff.
