Job summary

Hibbett I City Gear Evansville is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations, training, merchandising, restocking, scheduling, and executing store goals with strong customer service. This role requires cross-department knowledge and the ability to supervise in the Store Manager’s absence while ensuring policies and standards are followed.

You will lead staff, assist in recruiting and training, monitor inventory and sales performance, and promote merchandise

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
  • 1–3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of the store.
  • Consult with the Store Manager in establishing action plans to accomplish departmental and overall store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Assist the Store Manager in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
  • Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments when necessary.
  • Be aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments.
  • Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
  • Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Assure quality customer service is maintained.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed and be trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
  • Produce and give extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, including helping customers as they enter the store, and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
  • Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Practice and uphold all policies, procedures, and standards as listed in manuals and memos.
  • Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risk.

Summary

The Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties, including determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store, upholds policies, procedures and standards listed in the visual manual, and is passionate about giving outstanding customer service and promoting the merchandise in stores. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and is trained in Store Manager Responsibilities.
