Assistant Manager

Essential Function

Assistant Store Managers are responsible for hiring, developing and leading all store associates while ensuring optimal customer experiences, effectively overseeing all store operations, and maintaining brand standards. They develop strategies and plans to achieve key performance indicators and financial targets through business analysis, action planning, effective communication, and consistent accountability. Assistant Managers support the Store Manager in all areas outlined below and assume all Primary Duties when the Store Manager is not present.

Primary Duties

• 30% Brand: Provides supervision and supports the direction, planning, and daily goal setting for associates to deliver an exceptional client experience that maximizes sales/KPIs and drives customer loyalty. Emphasis is placed on both the in‑store selling model and Omni‑channel. Ensures all brand standards are met—merchandising, POGs, marketing, back rooms, dress code. Acts as the main point of contact to resolve customer issues and concerns. Analyzes store trends and anticipates customer demands.
• 30% People: Engages, trains, and develops teams to achieve positive results. Uses internal hiring platforms and actively recruits to build a strong network of external candidates when required. Identifies strengths and opportunities for each associate and addresses them through coaching or counseling. Holds the team accountable to company policies and expectations. Maintains positive associate relations by resolving concerns and keeping associates informed of relevant company information. Builds strong relationships with Store Manager peers and maintains consistent, timely communication with AM/DM. Fosters an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
• 30% Operations: Ensures execution of all company processes through training, management, analysis, and continuous improvement. Supports digital strategies such as Omni‑channel fulfillment (SFS/SDD/BOPIS). Manages inventory through ordering and shipment processing. Handles payroll hours to meet business needs and schedules accordingly. Guarantees proper execution of all store opening and closing procedures. Follows up accurately with company directives, assignments, and projects.
• 10% Safety/Loss Prevention: Maintains a safe store environment at all times for associates and customers; enforces all policies and procedures. Protects company assets by ensuring inventory and cash control procedures are followed. Utilizes available reporting, tools, and technology. Guarantees compliance with all HAZMAT training and execution.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum 3+ years retail sales/customer service experience preferred
• At least 1+ year(s) prior management experience preferred

• Cosmetology license desirable, but not required
