O'Reilly Auto Parts in Milton, VT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager with sales, customer service, and store operations. The role oversees the store during the Manager’s absence and leads the team in serving customers.

Compensation ranges from $14.42 to $20.40 per hour, with premiums possible in specific circumstances. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to better serve diverse customers.

Qualifications

• Must have Sales Specialist Training.
• Must have Assistant Manager Certification.
• RSS Certification is required.
• Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead store team to provide excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise customer service levels on the showroom floor and support program execution.
• Work with the store manager to ensure adequate staffing during peak hours.
• Assist in setting team goals, provide feedback, and coach team members.
• Assist in hiring by recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
• Ensure telephone calls follow company policy and orders are processed timely.
• Coordinate buy online/ship to store, transfers, and add orders with timely communication.
• Process returns, issue refunds, and stage merchandise properly.
• Ensure invoicing of merchandise, core charges, and warranties before shipment.
• Communicate Zipline messages and delegate merchandising tasks.

Compensation Pay Range

$14.42 - $20.40

The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premiums may be paid in amounts ranging per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in areas of sales, customer service, store appearance and store operations. This position will manage the store during the Store Manager’s absence and/or when working opposing shifts. The Assistant Manager will be expected to lead the store team members in servicing customers.

Essential Job Functions

• Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
• Supervise the customer service levels on the retail showroom to include team member execution on customer service programs (Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.)
• Work with the store manager to ensure the retail sales counter is adequately staffed, especially during peak retail business hours (lunch, late afternoons, evenings, weekends).
• Assist the store manager in setting team member goals, providing feedback on goal achievement, coaching/mentoring team members, and ensuring team members stay current on their training.
• Assist in the hiring process by recruiting, scheduling interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to select qualified team members.
• Make sure the telephone is answered according to company policy.
• Ensure all buy online/ship to store, hub and store to store transfers, and DC add orders are processed timely and customers are contacted upon shipment arrivals as needed.
• Utilize electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and according to procedure.
• Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently and friendly, issue accurate refunds, and stage returned merchandise correctly.
• Ensure all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, is invoiced before product leaves the store.
• Ensure Zipline messages are communicated, and Image Maker and merchandising tasks are delegated and completed as assigned.
• Ensure team members comply with company policies: posted work schedule, approval of changes, clocking in/out appropriately.
• Perform all store opening/closing duties: day‑end procedures, secure money/deposits, bank deposits, secure building, alarms, delivery vehicle security.
• Assist the store manager in maintaining the store building, parking lot, signage/lighting, computer hardware, in‑store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
• All other duties as assigned.
