Job summary

Gordon Food Service in Detroit, MI invites applications for the Assistant Store Manager role. You will work as the right hand to the Store Manager, overseeing operations, training staff, and driving performance to meet financial objectives.

The position requires 2+ years in grocery/retail management, a valid driver's license, and flexibility for full-time shifts. We value leadership, excellent customer service, and a commitment to a positive store environment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience.
• Hands-on leadership experience in grocery retail is highly preferred but not required.
• Physical Requirements: ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting above shoulder height.
• Schedule Availability: ability to work flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• You must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma / Equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy

Responsibilities

• Assists with the management of all aspects of Store operations including customer service, store condition and the selection, training, supervising, and performance management of Store Sales Associates
• Assists in unloading all merchandise from delivery trucks, organizes merchandise, and transfers merchandise from stockroom to store
• Collaborates with team members to ensure the store meets or exceeds the established merchandising standards for product quality, presentation and visual marketing/merchandising
• Keep up with reporting to support sales, earnings, and minimizing shrink
• Assumes full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager
