Job summary

Four Mountain Sports is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, drive team performance, and ensure a consistent, high-quality guest experience across retail and rental locations. This hands-on leader will develop team members, execute priorities, and serve as Manager on Duty in the Store Manager's absence.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000 - $72,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in retail, hospitality, rental, or guest service environments.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience managing teams in fast-paced retail or rental environments preferred.
  • Experience in ski or snowboard retail or rental operations strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with POS systems, cash handling, and operational reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily store operations and drive team performance, including ensuring a seamless guest experience.
  • Direct sales floor activities and adjust priorities to maximize guest experience and sales opportunities.
  • Maintain exceptional guest service standards and promptly address escalated concerns.
  • Drive retail and rental performance through effective selling, cross-selling, and KPI accountability.
  • Coach and develop associates, supporting hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Oversee rental operations for equipment safety and alignment with retail functions.
  • Ensure accurate POS operations and cash handling; resolve escalated issues.

Job description

The Assistant Store Manager at Four Mountain Sports supports daily store operations, drives team performance, and ensuresaconsistent,high-quality guest experience across Four Mountain Sports retail and rental locations. This role serves as a hands-on leader responsible for developing team members, executing operational priorities, andmaintainingservice and operational standards. The Assistant Store Manager acts as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring smooth operations,strong teamalignment, and a seamless guest experience. This position reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Store Manager to lead daily store operations, ensuring alignment on priorities, execution, and team performance while assuming full operational ownership in the Store Manager’s absence

  • Lead the sales floor during shifts by directing team focus, managing flow, and adjusting priorities in real time to maximize guest experience and sales opportunities

  • Model and reinforce exceptional guest service standards,addressingescalated guest concerns promptly andensuringprofessional resolution thatmaintainsbrand trust

  • Drive retail and rental performance through effective selling behaviors, cross-selling, and accountability for key performance metrics including sales, conversion, and guest experience

  • Coach, develop, and provide real-time feedback to associates and supervisors while supporting hiring, onboarding, and training to build a high-performing team

  • Oversee rental operations to ensure proper equipment selection, fitting, safety standards, and alignment with retail functions for a seamless guest experience

  • EnsureaccuratePOS operations and cash handling standards, resolving escalated transaction issues and reinforcing accountability across the team

  • Support inventory management including receiving, replenishment, transfers, and cyclecountswhilemaintainingvisual merchandising, store presentation, and cleanliness standards

  • Assistwith scheduling and labor management to align staffing levels with business demand and ensure effective deployment of team resources

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures, including execution of opening and closing responsibilities and store readiness

  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while supporting company initiatives, promotions, and seasonal priorities

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred

  • 2-5 years of experience in retail, hospitality, rental, or guest service environmentsrequired

  • Minimum 1-2 years ofprevioussupervisory or leadership experiencerequired

  • Demonstrated experience managing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume retail or rental environment preferred

  • Experience in ski orsnowboardretail or rental operations strongly preferred

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with POS systems, cash handling, and operational reportingrequired

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of retail and rental operations, including sales drivers, guest service standards, and team workflows

  • Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic operational reporting

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and influence team performance

  • Skill in makingtimely, effective operational and guest service decisions in real time

  • Skill in delivering high-quality guest service and modeling service expectations for the team

  • Skill in conflict resolution and addressing performance issues in a professional and constructive manner

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Ability to build andmaintaina positive, accountable, and collaborative team culture

  • Ability tomaintainstrong attention to detail in operational execution, store standards, and guest interactions

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute responsibilities effectively while supporting team performance

Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required

  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoorsand may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces

  • Must be able tofrequentlylift, push or pullup to50 lbs.individually or with assistance
