Job summary

SpartanNash's Family Fare/D&W presence in the Grand Rapids area is seeking an Assistant Store Director to join the retail leadership team. You will support the Store Director, ensure staffing, training, and operations across departments, and help drive profitability.

You will lead budgeting, payroll, inventory control, training, and customer service initiatives while maintaining store standards, safety, and a welcoming shopping environment. Previous supervisory experience in grocery is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
• Three years of experience in a retail grocery environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
• One year of experience in a supervisory or lead role in retail.
• Proficient computer skills (email, spreadsheets, etc.).
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
• Accounting/bookkeeping skills and ability to interpret/analyze financials.
• Develop/manage budgets and delegate/direct/implement initiatives.
• Suggestive selling and knowledge of products; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Regular inspections of all areas, providing feedback to department managers.
• Review reports, take action and communicate information as needed.
• Engage in financial planning including budgeting, staffing/payroll, facility maintenance and upgrading.
• Communicate and work with SpartanNash personnel.
• Train others to perform all department activities and functions.
• Manage the selection, scheduling, and supervision of others.
• Greet all customers and provide prompt and courteous service.
• Maintain a clean, attractive and customer-friendly department.
• Knowledge of products and price differences to assist customers.
