California State University, Long Beach is seeking an Institutional Research Analyst I to support data collection, organization, and preparation for statistical analysis and reporting. You will assist with survey administration, data management, and the creation of tables, charts, and reports under the Statistical Consultant.
This temporary position (one year) involves 40 hours per week, with salary placement determined by education and qualifications.
Under the direction of the Statistical Consultant, the incumbent provides support in the collection, organization, and preparation of data for statistical analysis and reporting. The incumbent assists with survey administration, data management, and the preparation of tables, charts, and reports. This position ensures the accuracy and consistency of data handling and contributes to the university’s planning, assessment, and accountability processes by providing dependable technical and administrative assistance.

Knowledge of research techniques and the methods of gathering and analyzing research data. Knowledge of statistical procedures and principles. Working knowledge of desktop word processing and spreadsheet software. Working knowledge of survey/evaluation software is required (Qualtrics is preferred). Working knowledge of qualitative analysis software is strongly recommended (Dedoose or NVivo). Ability to gather, compile and analyze research data. Ability to perform basic statistical analyses using software such as SAS or SPSS. Ability to train faculty and explain technical information in a simple manner. Ability to work collaboratively and facilitate a customer‑service orientation. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including safety, civility, information security, and non‑discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or a related technical field.
Preferred:
Sedentary work – in most cases sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).
