Qualifications

• Background in competitive speech as a participant and/or coach.
• Strong organizational skills and strategy to build/maintain a competitive high school program.
• Solid knowledge of IHSA speech activities rules and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience giving instruction and constructive criticism in interpretation, public address and/or acting events.

Responsibilities

• Coach and provide feedback to students on interpretation, public address, and acting events.
• Find, evaluate and cut selections for competition.
• Critique speech delivery, interpretation and acting.
• Improve blocking, popping and characterization.
• Research speech topics to guide students in developing original speeches.
