Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify production drawings for diverse projects (airports, corporate, industrial, etc.).
  • Assist in design of special systems, technology, and security components as required by project managers.
  • Apply knowledge of common special systems, technology, security concepts and procedures.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers/designers to develop drawings and documents for special systems (low-voltage, security, AV).
  • Research and compile project data; assist with specifications.
  • Update drawings with corrections across CAD software.
  • Assist in client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Contribute to project meetings and field inspections as needed.
  • Perform other duties and comply with policies.

Description

The Assistant Staff Special Systems Designer will assist on project teams to create world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including airports, aviation facilities, process, corporate, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The Assistant Staff Special Systems Designer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting special systems, technology, infrastructure, or security plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

  • Assist in the design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.

  • Modify and assist with the production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: including airports, aviation facilities, process, corporate, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

  • Assist in the Design of special system, technology, and security components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.

  • Applies knowledge of commonly used special systems, technology, and security engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the professional engineering services industry.

  • Collaborate with senior team members (including engineers and designers) to develop drawings and documentation for Special Systems designs (including but not limited to low-voltage, technology, security and audio/visual systems).

  • Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Compiles studies and reports. Assist with specification development.

  • Conduct research as necessary to complete designs for rapidly changing technologies.

  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers or designers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.

  • Assists with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of airports, aviation facilities, process, corporate, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

  • Contribute to and/or facilitate project meetings.

  • Assist in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and course work in drafting technology required.

  • Specialized CAD certification preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
