Job summary

Franklin County Schools is seeking a dedicated classroom assistant to support instructional activities and help maintain a productive learning environment. The role involves assisting with tests, distributing materials, and supervising students during drills and field trips, among other duties.

The position requires collaboration with teachers to reinforce learning, manage classroom displays, and ensure daily documentation of activities. Pre-employment checks are required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students
• Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes
• Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction
• Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
• Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacher
• Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills
• Assume responsibility for knowing and following the safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job
• Type and duplicate tests, worksheets, and supplementary materials
• Assist the teacher in assimilating material for class displays
• Document what is completed in the class every day
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Collaborative teacher or the classroom teacher.

To ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff, the district shall require criminal history background checks and fingerprinting of applicants for teaching positions and any other positions that require proximity to children. Additionally, satisfactory results from a required pre-employment drug screen as well as checks with various state/federal registries are required before an applicant is actually employed by Franklin County Schools.
