Overview

The MEP Assistant Site Manager studies the mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and fire protection specifications to plan procedures for construction based on start and completion times, staffing requirements, and project phases.

Responsibilities
  1. Study specifications to assist in planning construction procedures.
  2. Support the MEP Project Manager in evaluating subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  3. Develop scopes of work for review and approval.
  4. Assist in developing the MEP project schedule and prepare estimates.
  5. Solicit and review prices from subcontractors and vendors.
  6. Assist in selecting qualified bidders and negotiating prices.
  7. Draft subcontracts and purchase orders for review.
  8. Prepare reports on project progress, costs, and materials.
  9. Review drawings and coordinate updates.
  10. Assist in pricing work, drafting change orders.
  11. Ensure customer satisfaction and coordinate onsite activities.
  12. Manage work schedules, materials, and equipment.
  13. Serve as on-site Safety Officer when needed and participate in safety programs.
  14. Procure tools and materials, and manage construction site setup and closeout.
  15. Coordinate with supervisory personnel and resolve workforce issues.
  16. Prepare or review progress and cost reports and maintain safety and quality standards.
  17. Enforce Gray’s safety program and generate reports for improvement.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role involves standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Exposure to various environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, mechanical parts, and noise, is expected. Overtime may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage multiple team members, including training, planning, and resolving issues. Indirectly oversee subcontractors and laborers.

Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent, with at least five years’ related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, and email.
  • Energetic, self-motivated, team-oriented individual with a passion for collaboration and professional growth.

This position requires travel within the U.S. and possibly outside. Candidates can reside anywhere in the U.S. but must comply with Gray’s travel policies.
