Job description

Assistant Site Manager, E-Commerce

Baby, Sleep & Marketplace

Iconic. Approachable. Connected. These are some of the ideas that guide our every day at Janie and Jack. We set ourselves apart with outstanding quality and great care for every detail, from our clothing to our customer service to the people we work with. Are you ready to be a part of the Janie and Jack story?

About the job

In this role, you own how three areas of our business show up online: Baby, Sleep, and Marketplace. You are the person accountable for what the customer sees, including product presentation, promotional execution, site organization, and content quality, and for the weekly performance of those categories on site.

The production discipline is the same across all three: prepare product, manage vendor imagery, QA, publish, then read the numbers and re-merchandise. Marketplace carries additional scope, because that product comes from third-party sellers rather than our own merchandising organization. Alongside site production you also run seller onboarding, catalog ingestion, and the operational troubleshooting that keeps that assortment live and accurate.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of eCommerce, you will partner closely with Merchandising, Planning, Allocation, Marketing, Legal, Fulfillment, Store Operations, Customer Service, and IT to keep messaging, pricing, and inventory accurate across every channel.

What you'll do
Own Baby, Sleep & Marketplace Online
  • Own the online presentation and weekly performance of the Baby, Sleep, and Marketplace businesses
  • Manage the online production calendar for your categories; set new lines, execute promotions and markdowns, and perform general site maintenance on a daily and weekly basis
  • Own site and category organization across your areas, including taxonomy, category placement, and merchandising sequence.
  • Pull and analyze weekly inventory and sales reports for trends; re-merchandise the site and update creative as needed to drive sales for products or collections; follow up on items to MOS
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reporting for your categories, including marketplace weekly reporting; surface trends, risks, and opportunities to the business
  • Analyze category and seller productivity using sell-through and assortment metrics to inform where to expand, edit, or push for additional product
Site Production & Content
  • Prepare product for online representation, working closely with merchants and the web team across multiple in-season and day-to-day processes
  • Own vendor image management: collect, review, and organize imagery from vendors and internal partners; track outstanding assets against the site launch calendar and follow up to ensure deliverables are met on time
  • Organize imagery within the image database; ensure all imagery is accurate and correctly styled before publishing to the test environment
  • Upload all website assets (creative, copy, product imagery, pricing, promotions) to the back-end system and complete the QA process before pushing campaigns live
  • Create business requirements for creative updates to the website and email campaigns; collaborate with internal web creative and copy teams to concept, create, and execute accurate campaigns and site creative
  • Conduct site testing to ensure content updates meet brand quality standards
Marketplace: Additional Seller & Catalog Operations

Marketplace product is supplied by third-party sellers, so this area carries operational scope that Baby and Sleep do not.

  • Own end-to-end onboarding of new marketplace sellers: intake and kickoff meetings, platform training, account and credential setup, shipping configuration, and documentation collection through go-live
  • Maintain the seller onboarding pipeline and status tracking; follow up on unresponsive sellers and escalated stalled or at-risk onboardings
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the active seller base; manage ongoing seller communication and resolve seller-reported issues
  • Manage marketplace product uploads end to end, prioritizing new-seller launches; collect, validate, and enrich seller product data so it meets Janie and Jack standards for copy, attribution, imagery, and categorization
  • Troubleshoot seller, upload, feed, and product data errors; diagnose root cause and partner with the platform provider on resolution
  • Review marketplace returns and post-purchase issues; partner with Customer Service and Fulfillment on resolution and policy consistency
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Work directly with allocation, planning, product safety/compliance, and fulfillment teams to manage and maintain accuracy of inventory levels, including late styles
  • Partner with store operations, customer service, planning, allocation, and fulfillment teams to ensure brand, product, and pricing integrity and consistent communication of events and initiatives across channels
Technology & Projects
  • Support technical changes on the website through participation in user testing.
  • Support online marketing initiatives, and support upper management on miscellaneous projects, as assigned
What you'll bring
  • BS/BA required; preferred degree in Retail, Business, or Marketing, with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience within retail or e-commerce
  • Experience operating a third-party marketplace platform (Mirakl or comparable) strongly preferred, including seller onboarding and product feed/catalog management
  • Comfort working with data, with the ability to build and interpret sell-through, productivity, and assortment analysis and translate findings into action
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across categories
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with all levels of the organization as well as with outside vendors and sellers
  • Clear understanding of website operations and strong computer/technical skills; thorough understanding of Microsoft Excel is essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Momentis, MicroStrategy, Business Objects, and/or Blue Martini preferred
  • Flexible and willing to change gears depending on business needs
