Job summary

Turtle is hiring an Assistant Shift Supervisor to support daily warehouse operations in New Jersey. You will supervise, coordinate, and execute receiving, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping activities while actively performing tasks to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety.

You will lead warehouse associates, train and mentor staff, and collaborate with other departments to achieve timely order fulfillment and continuous improvement in processes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience.
  • 1+ year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Effective leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with warehouse technology, scanners, and WMS applications.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Count, verify, receive, pick, pack, stage, process, and ship products accurately using WMS.
  • Inspect inbound/outbound shipments for damage, shortages, discrepancies, and expiration dates; complete required documentation.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink-wrap machines, and other equipment safely.
  • Support inventory control activities including cycle counts and audits.
  • Perform product recovery, repacking, re-boxing, and other warehouse support functions.
  • Maintain equipment, facilities, and work areas clean, safe, and operational.
  • Assist in supervising warehouse associates; assign work and monitor workflow.
  • Train, coach, and provide feedback to warehouse team members.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workload planning.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments to fulfill orders.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and PPE use; communicate safety concerns.
  • Use WMS and related tech to monitor performance and escalate issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Assistant Shift Supervisor supports the daily operations of the warehouse by assisting with the supervision, coordination, and execution of receiving, inventory, picking, packing, and shipping activities. This role serves as a working leader who provides direction and support to warehouse associates while actively participating in operational tasks to ensure efficiency, accuracy, productivity, and safety.

What You'll Do
  • Count, verify, receive, pick, pack, stage, process, and ship products accurately using the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring all inventory transactions, quantities, labeling, addresses, and shipping documentation are correct.
  • Inspect inbound and outbound shipments for damage, shortages, discrepancies, part number accuracy, and expiration dates, and complete required documentation for shipment-related issues.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, shrink-wrap machines, and other material handling equipment to safely move, load, unload, transport, and store products throughout the warehouse.
  • Support inventory control activities, including cycle counts, audits, stock rotation, aisle assessments, inventory reconciliation, and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Perform product recovery, repacking, re-boxing, and other warehouse support functions in accordance with company standards and product handling requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment, facilities, and work areas in a clean, organized, safe, and operational condition, including basic equipment upkeep, housekeeping, and facility support activities.
  • Assist in supervising warehouse associates by assigning work, monitoring workflow, supporting daily shift operations, and ensuring productivity, accuracy, and service objectives are consistently achieved.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to warehouse team members while promoting teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workload planning to ensure adequate coverage and efficient utilization of resources during regular operations, peak periods, and special projects.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Purchasing, and other departments to support timely and accurate order fulfillment and resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), while identifying and communicating safety concerns and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Utilize WMS and related technologies to monitor operational performance, inventory accuracy, throughput, labor efficiency, and reporting metrics, escalating significant operational, inventory, staffing, or safety concerns to management as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
