PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance
- Perform salon hair services, makeup applications, skincare analysis, brow services, and product demonstrations with guests.
- Achieve individual productivity goals each week.
- Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to service and merchandise sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
- Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, and expense control.
- Support the planning and execution of services events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience, and drive brand partnership collaboration.
- Review, analyze, and react to Ulta Beauty’s financial and operational reporting regularly.
- Address underperforming metrics related to service sales and develop strategies using company programs, tools, and resources.
- Stay informed on new industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance as ASM and hold all service associates accountable to the Ulta Beauty attendance policy.
People
- Support attraction, hiring, and retention of a diverse team of service professionals.
- Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration and coaching.
- Train, coach, and develop service professionals using company programs, tools, and resources.
- Create an inclusive environment that encourages growth and engagement of associates, and ensure attendance at required training and educational programs.
- Support all aspects of associate professional development, including individualized feedback, succession planning, and development plans.
- Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster collaboration to achieve sales and service goals.
- Promote a culture of service excellence among the leadership team by sharing best practices and providing support.
Process
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards for the store.
- Regularly review and react to company communications in a timely manner.
- Adhere to and enforce Ulta Beauty’s dress code.
- Manage salon supply inventory and ordering process, ensuring allocated budget is adhered to.
- Use company task‑management tools to prioritize and execute store workload, including product and marketing resets, pricing updates, inventory tasks, cleaning, and replenishment.
- Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met.
- Support continuous improvement by influencing adoption of company initiatives and technology.
- Support the Experience Manager and General Manager in scheduling service associates to optimize traffic patterns and productivity.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology school graduate.
- Cosmetology license and/or cosmetology management license where required by state law.
Experience
- 2–3+ years of relevant, fast‑paced salon management experience or other relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state board of cosmetology regulations and hiring requirements.
- Financial management experience: driving top‑line sales, interpreting reports, managing payroll budgets, controlling expenses.
- Leadership experience: attracting, developing, and motivating talent; adapting to change; building collaborative relationships; influencing others.
Skills
- Proficiency with latest salon techniques for haircutting, hair color, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and brow services.
- Ability to learn and develop skills across all service categories.
- Proficiency with basic technology (Point of Sale system, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible and adaptable.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Work a flexible, full‑time schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend corporate business meetings and conferences.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
- Continuous lifting or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
- Frequent use of computer, telephonic devices, and related office supplies.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The pay range for this position is $15.92 - $23.65 per hour or services pay for the workweek pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan, with the opportunity for eligible associates to earn additional compensation under the Company’s bonus plan. Eligible associates may also earn overtime pay as required by applicable law and tips paid by service guests. Full‑time positions are eligible for paid time off, health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits. Part‑time positions are eligible for dental, vision, life, and disability benefits.
