Pursuit in Talkeetna, AK is seeking a friendly retail associate to help guests find products and manage daily store operations.

You will handle cash, stock, and merchandising, assist customers, train with the Retail Manager, and contribute to a welcoming guest experience in our mountain destination.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register, manage cash accountability and opening/closing tasks.
• Assist Retail Manager with product evaluation, purchasing input, and planning.
• Help with employee training, development and motivation.
• Educate customers on products and services and assist with in-store merchandising.
• Maintain and rotate retail stock, manage inventory between locations.

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS JOB?

Works closely with the Retail Manager in day to day operations. Manage cash, employee attendance, revenue assurance and opening/closing of the store. Ensure a safe, clean, and interesting store lay-out and merchandising. Help customers find the best products to suit their individual needs and ensure efficient, courteous handling of customer request.

• Drives sales success by implementing strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability
• Assist Retail Manager with product evaluation. Provide input and assist Retail Manager in purchasing and planning decisions
• Assist Retail Manager with employee training, development and motivation
• Educate customers on products and services
• Assist with in-store merchandising
• Order, receive, and maintain inventory
• Open and/or close the store as needed
• Ensure completion of daily and weekly tasks for the gift shop and sales associates
• Responsible for managing the Gift shop in the absence of the Retail Manager
• Maintain retail stock inventories between the warehouse, main building, and other applicable areas
• Work directly with accounting department to provide cash accountability
• Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned

Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees, and outside business associates

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as a team environment
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills and be detail oriented
• Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment; ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload
• Ability to accurately use industry-standard computer software and learn inventory systems software
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Ability to quickly and thoroughly learn products and services specific to the Company and quickly
• Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and greater weights on an occasional basis
• Must be able to maintain balance on unsteady or uneven surfaces, ladders, and to negotiate stairs on an occasional basis
• Must possess sufficient fine and gross motor skills to operate computers and other equipment as required
• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience
