Job summary

The Arc Wayne is seeking a Residence Supervisor to support individuals with disabilities in a residential setting. You will oversee daily operations, assist with staff scheduling, and ensure safe, person-centered care aligned with program needs.

You’ll lead training, supervise direct care, and maintain detailed documentation while promoting independence and dignity for residents. This is a full-time on-site role at our NY location.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum two years' experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Valid NY driver’s license and agency driver standards.
Certifications: SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.
Ability to interpret safety rules and write reports.

Responsibilities

Oversee IRA operations in the absence of the Residence Supervisor.
Assist with interviewing potential staff members.
Assist with onboarding and ongoing staff training.
Schedule staff as directed by the Residence Supervisor.
Provide coaching and performance feedback to staff.
Maintain individuals' accounts and financial records as needed.
Perform direct care tasks including medication administration and safety procedures.
Assist with housekeeping and safety of the residence.
Monitor changes in residents and communicate with clinical staff.
Advocate for resident choice, dignity, and independence.

Work Schedule

Full time (40 hours), Monday through Thursday 12 pm to 8 pm and Sunday 8 am to 4 pm, with flexibility to meet program needs.

A Day In The Life Of a Residence Supervisor

Responsible for IRA operation in the absence of the Residence Supervisor
Assists with interviewing of potential employees
Assists with the onboarding and ongoing training of staff.
Assists with scheduling as directed by the Residence Supervisor
Provides oversight and direction to residence staff in the areas of person-centered planning provision, documentation, record keeping, and safety and security procedures. Provides coaching to staff as needed. Provides feedback relative to employee performance to the Residence Supervisor.
Assists with maintenance of individuals' personal accounts and checkbook ledgers, paying of bills, petty cash, balancing statements, and record keeping tasks.
Performs role of direct care related to service provision, medication administration and/or supervision, transportation, documentation, incident reporting, and emergency first aid procedures.
Assists with housekeeping and the maintenance of residence and property to ensure a safe, healthy and respectful home. Promptly reports unsafe conditions and needed repairs to Residence Supervisor and/or Maintenance Department.
Oversees and reports physical, mental, social, and behavioral changes of individuals to appropriate Supervisory and/or clinical staff. Notifies day program of changes.
Advocates for individual choice and quality of care with respect, dignity and privacy. Promotes independence, individuality, inclusion and productivity.

Who We Are Looking For

High School Diploma or GED and two years' experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
Must complete and maintain certifications as designated by the agency including, but not limited to, SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.
Must demonstrate proficiency in providing specialized care based on individual needs (i.e. - use of adaptive equipment, ostomy care, etc.).
Must demonstrate proficiency in the understanding and implementation of safe patient handling with The Arc Wayne's policies.
Ability to stay calm and level headed under pressure and still perform effectively.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports.
Must demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity, objectivity and tact.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to foster teamwork between all members via open communication and sharing of responsibilities.
Ability to complete the agency's new employee and program orientation training programs.
Basic computer literacy including use of email, internet and web-based programs.
