Job summary

Haakon Industries Ltd. in Cheney, WA is seeking a highly organized Assistant Purchaser to keep our manufacturing operation running on-site. You will purchase materials, monitor inventory, and ensure production teams have what they need when they need it.

You will regularly engage with suppliers, track orders, and resolve material shortages on the production floor, while collaborating with Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Accounting, and Engineering teams to maintain material flow and schedule.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in purchasing, buying, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, or manufacturing.
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, or purchasing software.
  • Experience communicating with suppliers and tracking purchase orders.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials and monitor inventory to support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Track purchase orders and communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Support cycle counting and inventory accuracy throughout the facility.
  • Assist with purchasing for production, maintenance, paint, and other indirect materials.
  • Work directly with supervisors and production teams to resolve material shortages and answer questions; coordinate with accounting on invoicing.
  • Assist onboarding of new suppliers and maintain vendor information.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and data within the ERP system.
  • Research suppliers and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, and service.
  • Support the Component Purchaser with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About This Opportunity

We're looking for a highly organized Assistant Purchaser to help keep our manufacturing operation running.

In this role, you'll work closely with our Component Purchaser to purchase materials, monitor inventory, communicate with suppliers, and ensure our production teams have what they need when they need it.

This isn't just a desk job. You'll regularly be out on the production floor working with supervisors, answering questions, cycle counting inventory, solving material issues, and building relationships across the company. You'll also partner closely with our Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Accounting, and Engineering teams to keep materials flowing and production on schedule.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Purchase materials and monitor inventory to support daily manufacturing operations
  • Track purchase orders and communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
  • Support cycle counting and inventory accuracy throughout the facility
  • Assist with purchasing for production, maintenance, paint, and other indirect materials
  • Work directly with supervisors and production teams to resolve material shortages and answer questionsWork with our Accounting team and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies and support the accounts payable process
  • Assist with onboarding new suppliers and maintaining vendor information
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and data within our ERP system
  • Research suppliers and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, and service
  • Support the Component Purchaser with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
