Job summary

Madison County Government in Edwardsville, IL seeks a licensed attorney to represent clients in criminal cases in a full-time role at the Madison County Administration Building.

You will negotiate with prosecutors, advise clients on plea offers, and prepare and try cases as lead or co-counsel. A JD from an ABA-accredited school and Illinois bar admission are required, with residency within six months.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Illinois.
• Some experience in criminal law preferred but not required.
• Residency: Madison County, IL residency requirements must be met within 6 month of hire.

• Zealously and efficiently represent clients charged with criminal offenses.
• Negotiate cases with prosecutors; counsel and advise each client as to plea offers.
• Prepare and try cases as lead counsel or co-counsel; perform other duties within scope.

• Counsel and advise each client as to plea offers;
• Prepare and try cases as lead counsel or co-counsel;
• Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above;
