Overview
A Club4Fitness Assistant Personal Training Manager is responsible for assisting the Personal Training Manager (PTM) in mentoring new and existing personal trainers, helping new members acclimate to the Club4Fitness personal training program, and training new personnel on productivity. Additionally, the Assistant Personal Training Manager will cover in lieu of a PTM or when the PTM is unavailable, demonstrating a thorough understanding of all aspects of the personal trainer position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Personal Training Manager (PTM) by walking new personal training staff through onboarding activities listed in their onboarding schedule (first 30 days of employment).
- Help other personal trainers develop a working knowledge of Peak/ABC (dependent upon the membership sales system in use at the assigned club).
- Coach personal trainers on running an effective consultation for a prospective training client; shadow previously trained personal trainers to evaluate their proficiency on providing client consultations.
- Assist the PTM to instill all fundamental skills related to efficiency of appointment setting for fitness consultations and overall prospecting within the assigned personal training department.
- Assist PTM in reinforcing the need for all personal training personnel to follow and understand specific personal training and C4F policies, with an emphasis on current personal training cancel/freeze policies and procedures.
- Conduct session quality reviews of existing personal training staff.
- Have a working understanding of Trainerize to help teach new trainers this system.
- Understand and assist PTM with social media responsibilities.
- Assist PTM with filling the new trainer schedules with clients.
- Help personal training staff better understand and competently complete monthly trainer business plans as well as daily/weekly reporting.
- Perform "Floor Hours Activities" (10 to 15 hrs weekly) and complete a minimum of 20 consultations per month.
- At all times act as right‑hand support to the Personal Training Manager in driving revenue through personal training package sales, mentoring, coaching and educating PT personnel as needed.
- Maintain a regular personal training schedule alongside the responsibilities above and assist with the following tasks:
- Deliver fast‑paced, pre‑designed workouts to medium and large groups of clients.
- Lead and motivate clients throughout intense training sessions.
- Build and maintain a highly engaged member participation base.
- Practice what is preached and live a lifestyle similar to the clients' desired lifestyle.
- Ensure safety of participants regarding exercise technique, boot camp activities, and adapt exercises for varying skill levels.
- Attend weekly and monthly fitness meetings and required educational presentations; assist in preparation and presentation of specific topics in said meetings.
- Assist in handling member concerns when the PTM is unavailable.
- Maintain member engagement through social media and promote the brand.
- Be poised to be trained to learn the full scope of the Personal Training Manager role over time worked in this position.
- Act as a fitness leader in the community.
Organizational Relationships
The position reports directly to the Personal Training Manager assigned to a specific Club4Fitness facility.
Qualifications
- 1) Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Experienced Certified Personal Trainer with previous experience.
- Knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics to assess and provide guidance for functional training for pregnant women, members recovering from illness or injury, and others requiring alternative endurance or strength training activities.
- Ability to pass a personal training Strength and Conditioning Assessment.
- Detail‑ and results‑oriented with high professionalism, organizational skills, and multitasking ability.
- Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Desire and capacity to train all fitness levels.
- High level of understanding and presence across social media.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including a gregarious personality, an innate ability to motivate and inspire, and unstoppable energy.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
- 2) Minimum certifications/education/experience level:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required; a 2‑ or 4‑year degree in exercise science or a related field is preferred.
- Must hold a current fitness certification from an approved education company such as ACSM, ACE, NASM, NCSA, AFFA, NFPT (NCCA Certified).
- Must be CPR/AED certified.

Work Environment
Mental demands include reading, effective verbal and written communication, and maintaining emotional control under pressure.
Physical demands and environmental factors: frequent interruptions; climbing, stretching, light lifting of books and boxes; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; frequent computer use and repetitive hand motions. The gym environment has regulated air temperature and humidity, though it may be elevated during group and personal exercise activities. Regular standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, stretching, lifting, and other physical activity are required. Sitting, close reading, and typing are also required. Noise level is generally low but may be louder during gym activities. Travel is required as described.
Hours & Schedule
Hours are scheduled and will include early mornings, late evenings, and some weekend assignments. Special occasions, launches, club openings, and other events may require extended hours of availability. The Assistant Personal Training Manager will also be expected to fill in when a PTM is not available.
Work schedule changes must be pre‑approved by the Personal Training Manager.
