Job summary

Greene County Prosecutor’s Office is accepting applications for an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Criminal Division. Salary ranges from $72,500 to $87,500 depending on experience. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with on-call duties for felony docket positions. Required are Ohio attorney licenses and strong litigation/Jury trial experience; teamwork and excellent communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
• Minimum three years litigation experience including jury trial.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; able to work in a team.
• Recent military service or separation encouraged to apply.
• Exceptional candidates with less than three years may be considered.
• Transcripts required if <3 years of practice.

Responsibilities

• Appear before the Greene County Court of Common Pleas as docket prosecutor.
• Handle case intake and probable cause determinations; present criminal cases to grand jury.
• Engage in pre-trial motion practice; try cases before a jury or the Court; handle post-conviction motions.
• Work with law enforcement and victim advocates to prepare cases for trial.

Description

The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office is accepting applications for a position as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney assigned to the Criminal Division. The salary range is $72,500.00 to $87,500.00, depending upon the experience level of the applicant. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Actual work hours for the felony docket position will vary. In addition, docket prosecutors have an on‑call responsibility.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Docket prosecutors appear before the Greene County Court of Common Pleas.
• Handling case intake and probable cause determinations, presenting criminal cases before grand jury, pre‑trial motion practice, trying cases before a jury or before the Court, and post‑conviction motion practice.
• The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office embraces a team approach to prosecution where docket prosecutors work closely with law enforcement officers and victim advocates to properly prepare cases for trial.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be attorneys licensed to practice in the State of Ohio.
• Favored applicants will have at least three years of litigation experience, including jury trial experience.
• Attorneys separating from the armed forces are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Extraordinarily qualified applicants with less than three years of experience will be considered.
• Applicants must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, be self‑motivated, and embrace working within a team dynamic.
