The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering within the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego is conducting an open search for a non‑tenure‑track Assistant Project Scientist in the area of Biomedical Interfaces and Systems. The successful candidate will develop a microfluidic pump, its integration with an implantable pulse generator (IPG) system, and the hermetic sealing and passivation validated in the pig animal model for 3‑6 months of programmable drug delivery.
Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research team. They are not required to carry out independent research or develop an independent research reputation but will publish and conduct research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series. They may serve as co‑Principal Investigators with members of the Professor or Research Scientist series. University and public service are encouraged, and they do not have formal teaching responsibilities.
