Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Project Manager for field-based construction leadership in the South Central District. The role focuses on directing project teams, scheduling, budget control, and ensuring quality while maintaining strong client relationships.

80–90% in the field with responsibilities spanning coordination with clients, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to execute projects per drawings and specs. Mobility across TX, LA, MS, AR as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ related experience in construction.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Ability to lead teams and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct project teams to meet project goals, scope, schedule and budget.
  • Establish project procedures and oversee all project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors at key meetings.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures for project procedures.
  • Identify and secure approvals for changes in scope, budget, or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing client communication and adjust deliverables as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and legal requirements.
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Track and budget progress against milestones.

Position Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for a construction project's overall direction, completion, and financial outcome. 80% - 90% of the time will be spent working in the field on the construction project. You will be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish the execution of the work through the project team. You will also work to maintain positive working relationships with clients, architect/engineer, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

District Overview

Kiewit's South Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more. Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Location

All roles are project-based and will require mobility for the duration of assignments within the South-CentralDistrict, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas

Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope or work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee all project controls, schedules and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and Kiewit needs.
  • Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to entry and midlevel engineers to promote employee development.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of basic engineering fundamentals and practices to track and budget progress with project milestones.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ related experience and/or training, specifically in the construction industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs.
  • Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
  • Ability to access all areas on a construction project site
