Job summary

Cupertino Electric, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for O&M to coordinate between field and project teams.

The role will support the Project Manager, participate in change orders, submittals, logs, and related documents while contributing to project strategy and execution. You will learn CEI processes, witness critical thinking on strategic approaches, and gain experience across CEI’s scope with emphasis on renewables and large electrical builds.

Qualifications

• Three (3) or more years of experience specifically as a Project Engineer in electrical construction (Renewable Energy preferred) or MEP/Civil/Structural experience in general contracting.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead team meetings and provide guidance to Project Engineers and Project Coordinators in partnership with the Project Manager, Production Manager, field team and Trade Partners.
• Identify cost and schedule impacts associated with RFIs, submittals, and design changes and provide timely notification.
• Price change orders consistently and in a timely manner for project manager review and approval.
• Develop and manage close out documents as the Project progresses.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with 3rd party. Track and follow up on open items.
• Maintain strong working partnerships with vendors and subcontractors. Track material releases, changes and coordinate delivery with construction schedule.

Location: Urbandale, Iowa (Hybrid) | Remote

Salary Range: $68,250 to $89,000

Bonus Eligibility: This position is eligible for the annual performance bonus plan.

This position primarily involves working remotely or in an office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Cupertino Electric, Assistant Project Managers (APMs) are key to coordination between the field team, project team, and our customers. By partnering with the Project Manager, the APM will learn the processes and witness the critical thinking required for approaching our projects from a strategic lens. The APM will gain a deep understanding of CEI’s scope of work on a project. Additionally, they contribute to, review, and track project activities including change orders, submittals, tracking logs, and related project documents.

ABOUT YOU

• Serve as the go-to person to help resolve any issues or potential problem areas.
• Actively think about new ways to improve or change processes. Bring innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to a project.
• Have prior experience working on semi-remote jobsites, supervising others. Renewables/Large Electrical/Data Center build experience highly desired.
• Have good working knowledge of MS applications including Excel.
• Have prior experience in electrical estimating and the ability to accurately estimate change order pricing.
• Have knowledge of Electrical Code and Civil Construction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that, in the sole judgment and discretion of Company, would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications may qualify.

Education

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred.

Licensure/Certifications

None required.

Experience

Three (3) or more years of experience specifically as a Project Engineer in electrical construction (Renewable Energy preferred) or MEP/Civil/Structural experience in general contracting. Minimum five (5)+ years of related experience, including some time managing smaller projects.

Driving Record

Valid state-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
