Job summary

Bear Real Estate Group is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Kenosha, WI to support commercial and multi‑family projects from planning through closeout. The role involves organizing, planning, directing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring activities, with potential independent oversight on smaller projects.

You will work with PMs and Superintendents to manage schedules, procurement, submittals, and vendor coordination while ensuring safety and timely communication with owners.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in construction management, engineering, or business, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of construction industry experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and industry software (PlanGrid, Procore, Revit, MS Project, Smartsheet).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization, customers, and vendors.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to analyze and organize information on plans, deliveries, and productivity.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to travel day trips on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with scheduling, coordination, and reporting.
  • Oversee project financials, schedules, coordination, and safety from conception through close out.
  • Work with PM and Superintendent to create and distribute schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist PM in submittal reviews and pay applications.
  • Assist in estimating/takeoffs and supplier scope reviews.
  • Procurement: issue POs, track lead times, coordinate deliveries.
  • Maintain project logs, submittals, shop drawings, and current plan set.
  • Meet with owners and communicate status regularly.
  • Assist in pre-construction buyout, VE, constructability, and logistics.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors; manage changes.
  • Gather information for RFIs and manage change orders.
  • Ensure safety on site and support punch list creation for closeout.

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

SUMMARY:

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports all phases of commercial and multi‑family construction projects—from early conceptual planning through final closeout. This role helps organize, plan, direct, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities to ensure efficient execution. Depending on project size and complexity, the APM may assist a Project Manager on larger projects, manage a defined portion or scope under PM oversight, or independently oversee a small to mid‑sized project from start to finish.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • S upports the Project Manager with the following:
  • Oversee projects financial schedules, coordination, and safety of the project from conception through close out.
  • Assisting in planning and implementation of projects
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to create, update, and distribute the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks and deliverables.
  • Assist PM in Submittal & Pay application reviews.
  • Assisting in Estimating/Take Off's; Sub/Supplier Scope Review
  • Material Procurement - Issue PO's, Track Lead-times, and Coordinate Deliveries
  • Oversee document control maintaining project logs, submittals, shop drawings and current plan set.
  • Meets with owners and regularly communicates status reports.
  • Works with Pre-Construction assisting with buy out, value engineering, constructability, and logistics as needed.
  • Coordinates and overseas all construction services and activities with subcontractors and vendors.
  • RFI's - Gather Info; Submit to A/E; Return to Requestor.
  • Manage Change Order Log
  • Responsible for all aspects of safety on the job site working closely with Superintendent.
  • Manages the closeout phase of projects and works with Superintendent to oversee punch list management, creation of operations & maintenance packages.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a combination of equivalent work experience and training in the field
  • 2 – 4 Y rs minimum work experience in the construction industry or equivalent experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Specific software literacy (PlanGrid, Procore, Revit, MS Project, Smartsheet) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information regarding plan layouts, material deliveries and jobsite productivities.
  • Advanced knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to travel and work for extended period of time on projects - DAY TRAVEL ONLY
