Job summary

Cumming Group, based in Boston, MA, seeks an Assistant Project Manager to join the Program & Project Management team on life sciences projects. You will support development of strategic plans, manage interfaces with owners, and coordinate design and construction activities.

Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, contract oversight, and client reporting. The role emphasizes collaboration across architectural and engineering teams, with a focus on ownership priorities and design

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely related field is highly preferred.
  • 1+ years' of experience in construction project management working on life sciences is required.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required.
  • Firm knowledge and understanding of construction methods, materials and sequences, and architectural/construction drawings and specifications.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as business presentation skills.
  • The ability to interface with all levels of management and staff across organizational lines.
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated success at building team relationships across organizational lines.

  • Act as Owner’s Advisor for all phases of the project.
  • Manage planning, design, and construction processes and related activities.
  • Guide Clients through design/construction, prioritizing ownership goals and logistics.
  • Coordinate with Architect, Contractor, and project team members to meet objectives and resolve issues.
  • Lead contracts: negotiating, drafting and executing.
  • Manage overall project budget and schedule; report progress to project team and client.
  • Lead proposal review, leveling and analysis and present to the Client.
  • Lead selection process for all consultants and vendors, including RFQ/RFP and term negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and management of the project strategic plans and program initiatives to meet the goals and needs of the Owner.
  • Act as Owner’s Advisor with primary responsibility for all phases of project.
  • Manage overall planning, design, and construction process and orchestrate all activities related to design and construction.
  • Guide Clients through the complexities of design and construction, with a focus on incorporation of ownership priorities into design, construction logistics and sequencing, as well as design management of the architecture and engineering teams.
  • Coordinate with the Architect, Contractor, and other project team members to meet the project objectives and resolve issues.
  • Lead all elements related to contracts; including negotiating, drafting and executing.
  • Manage overall project budget and schedule. Report to project team and client on a regular basis.
  • Lead proposal review, leveling and analysis and present to the Client.
  • Lead selection process for all consultants and vendors, including preparation of RFQ/RFP, researching and comparing firms under consideration, and recommending and negotiating optimum business terms. This also includes team selection within firms.

The salary range for this full-time role is $78,200.00-$104,266.68 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
