Job Description

BCCI, an STO Building Group Company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Silicon Valley. The Assistant Project Manager will provide overall construction management support for single and/or multiple projects to ensure quality control, profitability, and client satisfaction. The primary objective is to ensure client satisfaction by understanding the client’s vision/objectives for the project, the project delivery process, and financial metrics for the project. They should have a working knowledge of the overall direction of the project from preconstruction through closeout, including contractual and specification documentation compliance, managing team collaboration, and meeting or exceeding the project’s forecasted profit goals. The role includes providing training, mentoring, and coaching to peers and support staff. Additionally, they should contribute to the company’s culture, mission, and values through thought leadership and actions.

Representative Tasks And Responsibilities
  1. Set up, maintain, distribute, and ensure timely document return for all project-related documents to ensure procedural and contractual compliance.
  2. Manage subcontractor performance as assigned by the Project Manager, in conjunction with Field Operations, and take action to resolve performance issues.
  3. Prepare, edit, and distribute required project documentation for construction meetings and communication in a timely and accurate manner.
  4. Review project drawings and subcontractor scope, including bulletins and owner scope changes. Prepare Potential Change Order and Change Order Requests for review and approval by the Project Manager.
  5. Coordinate with the project team to ensure a timely project closeout.
  6. Monitor project schedule with internal and external team members, ensure deadlines are met, and update the schedule as needed.
  7. Under supervision, assume a lead role on projects and exercise project management responsibilities to meet client project goals.
  8. Assist in coaching, mentoring, and training Project Engineers and new Assistant Project Managers, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  9. Contribute to the company's culture, mission, and values through thought leadership and actions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education
  • College degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. A Certificate in Construction Management is required if no college degree, preferably supplemented by a degree in business administration or liberal arts.
Specialized Knowledge And Skills
  • Knowledge of construction documentation and pricing.
  • Proficiency with company software, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Procore, and CMiC.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently organize work and meet deadlines.
Experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in the construction industry.

The physical demands and work environment are typical for office work, with occasional requirements to stand, walk, lift up to 20 pounds, and perform in active environments as needed.

Benefits
