Job description

Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager is a developing project management role that supports the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale projects and high-level programs at TRISO-X — working under the general supervision of senior project managers and project leadership while steadily building the skills to lead independently. You'll partner across the full project ecosystem — project controls, engineering, licensing, supply chain, quality, safety, manufacturing, testing, operations, and construction — gaining hands‑on exposure to how first‑of‑a‑kind nuclear programs come together. As you apply and grow your technical and programmatic skills on routine to moderately complex assignments, you'll take on increasing latitude for independent judgment: supporting project managers in identifying and resolving issues that affect cost and schedule performance, spotting opportunities to improve execution, and helping direct external subcontracted teams and internal matrixed teams.

We're looking for a project professional who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to grow in a fast‑paced, mission-driven environment: someone who thrives on coordination, communicates clearly across technical and non‑technical audiences, and wants to develop into a full project manager under the mentorship of experienced leaders. This is a role designed for growth — every assignment builds the foundation for greater responsibility, autonomy, and impact on programs that are advancing clean, reliable nuclear energy at scale.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Support and contribute to planning, coordination, and execution of complex, technically challenging projects in alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements.
  • Track project deliverables, interfaces, action items, decisions, assumptions, and technical issues to support disciplined project execution. Provide technical inputs and coordinate activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams and cross‑functional partners, including project controls, licensing, supply chain, quality, safety, manufacturing, testing, operations, and construction.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure technical requirements, deliverable expectations, design interfaces, and execution dependencies are understood and managed.
  • Support identification of technical, schedule, cost, and execution risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies in coordination with senior engineers/managers and project leadership.
  • Develop information to support problem resolution, support make/buy decisions, and coordinate supplier technical coordination, subcontractor interfaces, and external partner execution activities.
  • Support project management evaluation and decision making on acceptability of work products, deliverables, processes and procedures, and project performance to achieve customer’s performance, quality, safety, operational, and programmatic requirements in line with project governance. Ensure activities are performed in accordance with applicable company processes, procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Actively support the safety culture and ensure integration of quality in all relevant processes by complying with the requirements of the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Seek feedback and guidance from more experienced team members and continue developing knowledge of project management best practices, execution standards, and integration methodologies.
  • Continue developing subject matter knowledge in project planning and execution and support continuous improvement of project delivery processes, tools, and standards.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Level III: In addition to the above: Plan, coordinate, and execute moderately complex, technically challenging projects in alignment with project objectives, schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements, under the general guidance of senior project managers.
  • Level III: Provide feedback and informal guidance to less experienced team members, sharing knowledge related to project management best practices, execution standards, and integration methodologies, under the guidance of senior project managers.
Job Profile Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, construction sciences, project management or related technical field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience with post‑secondary training/education.
  • Basic knowledge of project execution practices, interface management, schedule coordination, work control, and technical documentation control.
  • Demonstrated inquisitive nature, clarity of thought, and willingness, capability, and resilience to develop fundamental understanding and factual basis of problems and challenges.
  • Developing experience supporting the coordination and execution of work scope with multidisciplinary teams in a project‑based environment.
  • Developing experience supporting project execution activities and assisting with resolution of routine, well‑defined issues or emerging problems under close supervision.
  • Developing analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and support established priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical team members.
  • Demonstrate innovative, inquisitive, and expansive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, software, and Microsoft Office products to compile, collate, analyze, visualize, and generate concise information for reporting and management decisions.
  • Level II: The skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 3 plus years of relevant experience. Typically, two to five years of Engineering, Project Engineering, Project Management, or related experience in the commercial construction, energy, nuclear, petrochemical, or high‑technology hardware development industry or three to five years of military experience; relevant internship, co‑op, or academic project experience may be considered.
  • Level III: Typically, five to seven years of Engineering, Project Engineering, Project Management, or related experience in the commercial construction, energy, nuclear, petrochemical, or high‑technology hardware development industry or three to five years of military experience; relevant internship, co‑op, or academic project experience may be considered.
