Job summary

MATT Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager in Los Angeles to support the Project Manager and Superintendent in buyout, procurement, and schedule monitoring. You will interact with subcontractors and review payment applications, helping ensure project timelines and quality.

The role also includes mentoring engineers, coordinating with field staff, and advancing safety initiatives while maintaining strong client relations and project profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of education.
• At least four years of building construction experience.
• Understanding of the construction management process including estimating, budget control, scheduling, safety management, subcontracts, change orders, submittals, RFIs and closeout.
• Technical knowledge of building components and systems.
• Aptitude for mentoring and training.
• Experience with BIM and subcontract coordination.
• Passion for building.

• Support constructability reviews and problem solving; work with supervision to maintain the schedule.

The Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, and in conjunction with the PM or SPM, the Assistant Project Manager orchestrates buyout and procurement of trades. The APM is responsible for monitoring the procurement schedule, interacts with subcontractors, and reviews payment applications.

Reporting to the Project Manager, and in conjunction with the PM or SPM, the Assistant Project Manager orchestrates buyout and procurement of trades. The APM is responsible for monitoring the procurement schedule, interacts with subcontractors, and reviews payment applications.

Additionally, the APM assists with the day to day activities of a Project Manager and will mentor the development of a team of Project Engineers. With a Builder’s mindset, the APM works closely with field superintendents to insure the project’s schedule and review quality of installed materials.
