Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Columbia, MD. You will support planning, scheduling, and directing projects, helping ensure on-time delivery and budget adherence while delivering world-class service to customers and colleagues.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in engineering, field service, or project management, with basic financial skills and proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

• Basic project management experience in a technical environment (building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems).
• Developing project financial skills.
• Leadership orientation—actively guides and mentors others within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, and application engineering for assigned projects.
• Ensure projects are executed to budget and time schedules.
• Ensure positive cash flow on all assigned projects.
• Interface with the customer and maximize satisfaction.
• Identify risks and help develop strategies to minimize impact and deviations from costs and deadlines.
• Review actual vs. estimated job cost using financial systems and provide cost reports.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, organizing and directing, and application engineering for assigned projects.
• Ensures projects are effectively executed to budgeted cost and time schedules.
• Ensures positive cash flow on all assigned projects.
• Acts as key interface with the customer and maximizes customer satisfaction.
• Identifies potential project risks and assists to develop/implement strategies to minimize impact and develop and implement strategies for controlling deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
• Utilizes financial systems to review actual vs. estimated job cost and to provide timely and accurate project cost reports.
• Performs Other Duties And Responsibilities As Requested Or Required.

What You’ll Need

Requirements

• Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
• Preferred Experience: (but not required):
• 3-5 years engineering, field service or project management
• Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, building automation, and/or healthcare
• Previous supervisory

The anticipated compensation of this position is $78,500 - $95,000 annual salary.
