Job summary

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer to support multiple projects at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC. The role coordinates with engineering, project controls, procurement and operations to deliver on design and project objectives.

You will apply engineering principles, manage resources and baselines, and assist in cost and schedule control while developing the reporting structure and ensuring contractor alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in design engineering work or technical project management.

Responsibilities

  • Assists providing overall engineering and/or design direction, leadership and management for assigned projects and tasks.
  • Integrates and manages engineering resources for assigned projects, by assisting in establishing design criteria, staffing plans, schedules and engineering tools for engineering tasks.
  • Provides administrative direction to assigned leads and managers. Responsible for overall management, scheduling, and priority of the tasks and projects assigned.
  • Assists managing the administration, document control, project control and quality engineering sections for all assigned projects through section supervisors.
  • Resolves conflicts between project direction and technical direction from the functional managers.
  • Participates in department and site wide programmatic issues resolution and quality improvements.
  • Responsible for staffing, evaluating, and developing a reporting organization capable of achieving the objectives of the projects assigned.
  • Assists managing activities of subcontractors to ensure output meets project technical, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Establishes baselines deliverables and engineering work requests.
  • Recommends to project engineering manager, subcontractor authorizations for new work and changes to baselines.
  • Evaluates project cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions.
  • May assist managing cost accounts for procurement of engineered materials.
  • Establishes projects scope of work including assuring that there are firm customer requirements developed.

Full job description Overview: Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site. The Assistant Project Engineer assists the managing and facilitation of multiple projects, tasks, and modifications by coordinating with Engineering, interfacing with project and systems engineering managers, construction managers, operations managers, project controls, procurement, and other service/support groups. Applies intermediate to advanced engineering principles, concepts, and practices to resolve site wide programmatic issues and establishing an organization capable of achieving all division objectives.

Qualifications

  • Electrical or Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in design engineering work or technical project management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of planning and control of interdisciplinary activities, design discipline responsibilities, quality aspects for design control methods and procedures, cost and schedule applications, and construction practices.
  • An intermediate knowledge of corporate, company and department goals and policies and procedures; well-developed communication and supervisory skills.
  • Professional Engineering License in any US state.

Minimum Pay: USD $80,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Pay: USD $199,000.00/Yr.
