Job Duties: The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Education and Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Assistant Professor.
Attention: The Department of Kinesiology at UW-Whitewater seeks a dedicated educator, scholar and colleague to join our faculty. This position carries a 24-credit annual teaching load with an emphasis on high-impact instructional practices, student success, research, and professional service. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in the field of exercise and health science as part of the Human Performance Major (HP), Applied Kinesiology Graduate Program (AK) and associated minors. In particular, we encourage application from candidates who can teach one or more of the following courses: Structure and Function of the Human Body (PEPROF201/202); Exercise Science for Health and Physical Education (PEPROF 301); Motor Behavior (PEPROF 270); and Health Behavior Theory (HEALTHED 470). The approved standards for promotion and tenure at the time of initial contract are the standards that will be used for promotion and tenure. If there are revisions to department or college standards, a faculty member can request (in writing to the department chair) to have the revised standards applied.

Kinesiology - College of Education and Professional Studies
The Department of Kinesiology prepares teachers and professionals in physical education and the exercise and health sciences. The department houses two undergraduate major programs, several minors, and one graduate program, including a BSE in Health, Physical Education, and Adapted PE Teacher Education, BS in Human Performance, and MS in Applied Kinesiology.
The faculty and academic staff in the Kinesiology Department are dedicated to providing high quality education for students committed to professional careers and graduate programs in the exercise sciences, health and physical education, health promotion, sport and recreation management, strength and conditioning, and coaching, among other health and human performance careers.
Well-qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting annual salary of $60,000, commensurate with the candidate’s education, related experience, and qualifications.

Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., MFA, or equivalent) in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, Human Performance, or a related discipline by the time of appointment. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2027; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2028 in advance of their first scheduled review.

A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
