Job summary

UC San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in structural biochemistry, with emphasis on cryo-electron microscopy, membrane protein biochemistry, molecular machines, and development of biochemical, biophysical, and/or chemical biology approaches to macromolecular structure, function, and mechanism.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, or closely related field (basic qualification).
• Demonstrated ability to carry out innovative and impactful research.
• Demonstrated expertise in structural biochemistry or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated interest for teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Demonstrated interest for mentoring and training graduate students.
• At least one year of post-doctoral experience recommended (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Teach biochemistry, chemical biology, and related topics at undergrad and grad levels.
• Lead an interdisciplinary research group in structural biochemistry.
• Collaborate across UCSD departments and utilize wide-ranging facilities.
• Develop and communicate a recognized program of excellence in teaching and research.
