Assistant Professor, Speech-Language Pathology
Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) on a 9-month tenure-track appointment with potential to teach in the summer for extra compensation. While all areas of expertise will be considered, the following areas of scholarship are desired: pediatric motor speech disorders, speech science, craniofacial disorders, and pediatric dysphagia.

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and has a large undergraduate program, a thriving graduate program in speech-language pathology, a growing doctor of audiology program, and is actively recruiting students into its new PhD program. Presently, the department has 21 full-time faculty positions (12 PhD, 3 AuD, and 6 Master’s level). The department offers the following degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Speech, Language and Hearing Science, a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology, a professional Doctor of Audiology degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences. Responsibilities include: (1) conducting research in your area of expertise; (2) pursuing extramural funding; (3) directing student research; (4) teaching graduate and undergraduate clinical courses; and (5) participating in departmental, university, and professional service activities. This position may require teaching courses in person and online, as assigned.
At the time of appointment, candidates must hold a PhD in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences or a closely allied area. Demonstrated potential for establishing a strong program of research, publication, and extramural grant generation, along with the ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
Desired Qualifications: Evidence of research interests and abilities, commitment to pursuing external funding, and demonstrated promise in teaching. Prior record of peer-reviewed journal publication and grant writing experience. Postdoctoral research experience. Holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for Alabama state licensure.
