Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quantum Sensing within the Physics Department to begin in Fall 2027.

We seek candidates who will establish a tabletop or benchtop research program and collaborate with the IU Quantum Science & Engineering Center, as well as related institutes, while contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
• A substantial record of research accomplishments appropriate to rank; commitment to excellence in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Ability to secure external funding and work effectively in a team; interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Sustain an active, externally funded research program in quantum sensing.
• Engage undergraduate and graduate students through effective teaching.
• Participate in service to the university and the profession; collaborate across IU centers and institutes.
